From Sankt Martin, showcase village of the German Wine Route, this tour leads to one of the highest and most attractive viewpoints of the Vorderer Pfälzerwald, the Rietburg. Whether you climb it by chairlift or on foot doesn't matter, the view from the terrace of the mountain inn is unique. We go on foot and enjoy two traditional Palatinate huts and idyllic forest ponds along the way.
Starting at the bus stop on Maikammerer Straße in the charming wine village of Sankt Martin. We head to the town center, go left below the church onto Kellereistraße and hike steeply past the tourist information. At the vineyard path with the cozy loungers, we turn left and go 150 m downhill to the Haardtmadonna. Here we hike right with a picturesque view of Kropsburg through the vines. At the NABU nature reserve sign, there is a short left-right bend, then continue straight ahead. At a shelter with inviting picnic benches (the variant from the Peace Monument joins from the right), we hike downhill on the paved path. We cross the road and follow the signs to Ludwigshöhe, where the easier path leads left after the Luitpoldstein and then right along the forest edge up to the villa. Albrecht Ritter
