At first, you go steeply uphill through a forest on a well-marked forest path. Then comes the calmer part. At a fork in the path, you can turn off to the Saksa Saddle if you realize that you aren't up for it today. For the others, the route continues gently for a while and then climbs straight up the mountain with about a 30% gradient, partly via stairs. You work up quite a sweat, but you have to keep reminding yourself that Norwegians do this path with their families in good weather, including children of primary school age. They simply hop from stone to stone, whether going uphill or downhill. No joke! Please try it! For all who are now fired up, I want to assure you that the view from Saksa is among the most beautiful I have seen in Norway. On a clear day, it's beyond words. I'll try: world-class!
