Hiking description
Park near the restaurant Chez Bibet in Saint-Bernard. This route is marked with hiking posts, soon (2023) a yellow paint marking will be put in place.
(Start/End) Head right towards the medieval church.
It features a beautiful flamboyant Gothic style portal. Turn left then right, towards the town hall via Rue de la Saône. At the town hall, reach the shops (bakery and convenience store) and turn right to emerge onto Avenue Suzanne Valadon. Continue right to the first crossroads.
Cross the departmental road with caution and take the Chemin du Bourguignon, near the castle, which was owned in the 1930s by the painter Maurice Utrillo and his mother Suzanne Valadon. Walk along its garden. Continue straight on the Chemin de la Garenne then take Chemin des Cerves on the left at the end.
Cross the departmental road again, walk along it to the right for about fifty meters, then take the first street on the left, Chemin du Bois de Lys, towards Grandes Bruyères and Saint-Didier-de-Formans. Ignore the first crossroads, pass the houses of Bois de Lys and continue to the RD88a (Avenue des Helvètes).
Cross the D88A at Grandes Bruyères, go straight ahead, then turn left on Chemin des Bois towards Pré de l'Eau and Saint-Bernard.
At the first crossroads, take a right. Keep the same direction aiming for the Saône and pass in front of the old priory of La Bruyère.
It is listed as a Historic Monument. Once at Pré de l'eau (towpath), turn left and return towards the village center along the Saône passing by a lône (oxbow lake).
Interpretation panels have been installed. Continue for about 200 m and ignore a path on the left. Continue until the bridge is in sight.
Take the Rue de la Saône to the left with its gate, pass again by the restaurant Chez Bibet to return to the parking (Start/End).
