Very interesting circular route, great landscape in a large quicksand area in Lommel, colloquially called the "Sahara". Can be done directly from the Center Parcs.
Large quicksand area in Lommel, colloquially called the „Sahara“. Today, the Sahara is a nature reserve. Beautiful landscape with impressive fauna. The circuit can be easily done during a stay at the Center Parcs "de Vossemeren".

You leave the Center Parcs through a security gate in the southwest of the park area, cross the canal and leave the road to the right, following the canal course, until after about 1 km the first lake is reached on the left side. After about 500 m, turn left towards the observation tower, which is reached after a further 700 m, from which you have a great panoramic view. Benches and a children's playground invite you to linger.
Along the lakeshore, the hike continues for about 1 km along beautiful landscapes until the path branches off to the left into steppe-like terrain. Through high forest mixed with dune-like hills, after another km, you reach a scout accommodation. Those who want to shorten about 3 km continue on the road eastwards and then come to the planned return path towards the Center Parcs.
The planned route here, however, leads into the town of Lommel, where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream at "De Scheppe" in summer.
