The walk crosses different environments of the mid-mountain, from cultivated terraces to coppice and pastures. Along the itinerary you will encounter various testimonies of the Great War front, which saw the presence of Italian troops in this area. These troops were engaged in decisive actions during the course of the conflict, such as countering the Austro-Hungarian Spring Offensive of May 1916 by observing and directing artillery fire against the attackers attempting to conquer Monte Zugna, located on the other side of the Adige Valley.

Safety information
As with all mountain hikes, it is advisable to consult the weather forecast before embarking on the excursion.Roadbook
From the church in Saccone, go up via 24 Maggio, then take the road on the left to via Furlani, slightly downhill, which soon leaves the village across the meadows. At the end of the asphalt road near a crossroads, continue straight ahead along an obvious mule track to the next fork that climbs to the right. At the next fork, take the road to the left and then, when you come to a clearly downhill stretch, keep to the right and take a small but well-marked path that climbs in narrow bends. This section contains numerous artefacts dating back to the First World War, such as trenches, cave shelters and observatories. Having reached the maximum altitude of 980 m, the route continues downhill towards the locality of Pozza, coming out of the woods. Past the houses, you can return to Saccone by descending directly from the asphalt road. If, on the other hand, you intend to continue, move left onto the dirt road following the signs for Monte Vignola - Corno della Paura - Sentiero della Pace, bypassing an isolated building and then resuming the ascent into the woods along a characteristic mule track, in places carved into the rock. Having overcome the difference in altitude, you will reach the flat area known as Brocom. At the crossroads, take the road on the right, downhill, following the signs for "Faggeta dei Cestarelli" and, keeping to the forest road, you will soon reach the locality of Marezi and then the asphalt road again, which, turning left, will lead you back to Saccone.
