Roadbook
From the Infopoint, head a short distance on the B38 towards Niederösterreich. After a few meters, turn right onto the Größgstötten access road. Through the forest and a small meadow, you reach the Freiwald observatory. Here, follow the road to the Pürstling fire station. Turn right here into the forest. In the forest, cross the Harbe Aist and the path takes you to Rothenbachl. Be careful of cross traffic when crossing the L1477!
In Rothenbachl, turn left at a dilapidated farmhouse; a few meters further is a bison farm. Those who want to see the animals can walk a few meters further. After crossing the forest, we reach the Königsau and follow the B38 on a separated path and cross it.
Via meadow and forest paths, head towards Viehberg. Here we meet the planet hiking trail, which also leads on our route. After the second road crossing at "Sternsteinblick," be sure to turn around and enjoy the view of the main Alpine ridge. A unique view!
Past the "You point," go downhill to the Viehberg access road. Follow this past the Sandl ski lift and continue to the Sandl observatory. From there, you have a beautiful view of Sandl and the surroundings.
The return route now follows the same fire department adventure trail back to our starting point.
