A short varied walk in the Bruges Surroundings.
Suitable for all ages provided you are still mobile.
The majority are well passable paths but there are still some passages, especially during prolonged rainy weather, that are not accessible with a wheelchair.
For people with four-legged friends: there is a beautiful off-leash meadow next to the parking lot.
For the walk itself: dogs must be on a leash, of course.
Upon return to the parking lot, you can still walk up to the castle, where there is a cafeteria, terrace, treehouses, herb garden, but .....
it's best to check the website first for opening hours.
A short but varied walk of about an hour and a half. Ryckevelde means walking in a forest, but also offers:
In the south, a view of the Assebroek meadows,
Closer to the end, a section of nature restoration area: it concerns a former land dune with heath, the so-called "Schobbejakshoogte". After part was excavated for sand extraction around 1950, a wetter zone with a pond has emerged. Follow the red/yellow marking of the "Uilenspiegel route." You walk within an area fenced off with small barriers, this is not a dog off-leash meadow but a nature reserve, please respect this. The dog off-leash meadow is located next to the parking lot, a wonderful area where your four-legged friend can play freely.
We make a final loop towards Male Abbey to end with a more recently created nature section with a pond.
