From the center of the Taunus, we hike through forest and a narrow valley outwards to the border between forest and wine.
We start at the spa center of Schlangenbad, 313 m, in the direction of the Trinkhalle. In Omsstraße, a footpath leads up into the cool forest. We soon leave the path, which is marked with many hiking trail markings, and turn left onto a gravel path, which surprises us at first. After approx. 500 m, however, we are led onto a beautiful forest path from which we can enjoy the occasional beautiful view between the trees. At a refuge, 340 m, we reach the main path again, which leads us to a Kneipp facility with a refuge (45 min., nice resting place). Here we turn left and then immediately right again through meadows and forest downhill into the Großer Buchwaldgraben. (At the Rauenthal junction, there is an opportunity to stop for refreshments in this wine village). However, we turn right and descend in the Großer Buchwaldgraben for about 1.5 km to the Alter Forsthaus.
