The town of Roussillon is uniquely situated on a rocky plateau, features charming old alleys, and offers a beautiful view. The highlight is the colorful ochre rocks in the green pine forest.
From the parking lot at D 104/D 149 we first follow the D 104 further west and then the D 105 (right) through a dense pine forest. On both sides of the road, we can already admire the first colorful ochre quarries. This way we reach the main square of Roussillon. At the back end of the Place de la Poste, 320 m, turn left into Rue Casteau, a narrow shopping street of the old town. At the Place de la Mairie we should take a detour to the north (right) for a view from Place Mathieu. Otherwise, we then go right under the clock tower through the Rue de l’Église uphill, past the church to the Castrum, 342 m. From the platform (orientation board) over the rock, there is a wide view to the north over the Vaucluse plateau to Mont Ventoux and to the south to the Luberon. We now go right past the church at the edge of the rock over the squares Forge and Pignotte downhill and then right again into Rue Jeu de Paume. From here we have partly beautiful views over the ochre rocks in the south. Via Rue
