This is our "tour in reverse". It begins with a long descent. But a visit to the beautiful Vils valley floor with the inviting Vilser Alm and its impressive mountain scenery is always worthwhile! On the way back, you should "take along" the Brentenjoch, a beautiful, round cone and a fine vantage point for the Ostallgäu.
From the valley station of the Füssener Jöchle cable car near Grän, we first take the comfortable cable car up to the mountain station, 1818 m, which is located directly on the Füssener Jöchle. From the mountain station we hike (signposted "Vilser Alpe and Vils, 412") eastwards downhill over pasture slopes and through a small valley into a beautiful but somewhat marshy area at around 1550m. We soon cross the stream and reach a signposted fork in the path. Turn right here up to the Vilser Scharte. We continue along the valley floor and follow the course of the stream. Between bushes and trees, we descend on a rather stony path into the wide basin of the Vilser Alm. At the first junction, we keep to the right and cross the stream at around 1270 m. A wide path takes us to the beautifully situated Vilser Alm, 1226 m.
