Eggedal and Høgevarde are popular destinations with only a short travel distance from Oslo.

The area has a large influx of people who own cabins here. The Vestfjellet in Eggedal offers great hiking and beautiful ski terrain with large untouched natural areas. The area is close to Norway's largest nature reserve called Trillemarka.

Høgevard is a mountain on the Norefjell plateau in Viken and borders the municipalities of Krødsherad and Flå. The highest peak is on the Flå side of the valley and has an elevation of 1,459 meters, making it the second highest peak on Norefjell, only surpassed by Gråfjell

(1,466 m) on the border between Sigdal and Flå in the northwest. Despite this, the view from Høgevard is better and offers a view over an area of about 40,000 km², which is more than Galdhøpiggen’s approx. 35,000 km², only beaten by Gaustatoppen’s approx. 60,000 km². The Høgevarde cabin is just below the summit and is locked with the DNT standard key.
