From the parking lot, we follow the lakeside promenade past the bathing bay, go a little away from the lake behind an inflow and after the children's playground to the operations building (information, kiosk, water rescue). From there, a small road branches off to the right leading us back out to the lake, then left up to a driveway, again to the right, past a few houses and once more down to the lake.
Those who want can take a short detour to the left up to the Marian Grotto.
The onward path runs along the shore, goes a bit up and down and into the Quiet Corner. The path narrows and at the breeding and spawning area it turns left and rises over a meadow slope to a cross path. We turn right onto it.
The circular route forks at the forest edge, crosses a hill and leads under the high-voltage line. In multiple ups and downs, it goes over meadow terrain and swings right into dense forest. After the forest, numerous Nagelfluh boulders appear, and the most beautiful one is to the right of the path by a hut.
At the northernmost point of the circular hike, the path turns right. We cross the Rottwässerle and shortly before the high-voltage line, at an altitude of 900 m after almost 8 km, the highest point of the circular hike is reached.
At the power line, we keep right and go slightly downhill to the forest edge, then turn right again and immediately left onto a path into the forest. A narrow driveway runs a bit up and down through the forest until shortly before the forest edge where there is a junction. Turn sharply right there. We come almost down to the lakeshore and then continue along the shore to the south.
Finally, we reach the operations buildings and pass a dam with a short bridge at the forelake. Then it goes quite a long way along the shore and through the Petersthal recreational area. At the edge of Petersthal, the route turns right until it reaches a road. Soon it leaves the road again and reaches a viewpoint.
After an ascent, our path descends in tight zigzags to the dam. We continue beside the road over it and immediately after the dam we keep right. The last section of the circular tour leads back to the starting point on a hiking trail beside the road.
