Roteck

Day 1 - From the Texel cable car mountain station to the Lodner hut Take the Texel cable car (June - September 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. - Thursdays and Sundays the first ride at 7:00 a.m.) to Giggelberg (1536m). Follow path no. 24 (Merano high path) to the serviced Nasereith hut (1523m). From here, the route leads via path no. 8 over the Gingglalm up to Zielalm (2196 m, snack station) and further to the Lodner hut (2260m; summer operation, possible overnight stay); about 4 hours from Birkenwald. Overnight accommodation available at the Lodner hut. Opening times: June 25 to September 30. Day 2 - From the Lodner hut to the summit of Rotegg and descent Then from the hut a short climb to the fork in the path, left following the sign “Roteck” on path 9 to another fork and then right in switchbacks through grassy slopes up to the grass hollow of the “Schafbank”; now on the Roteck east ridge over blockwork and rock always easy and marked (cairns also indicate the direction),
