Safety information
No technical difficulties at all. If you plan the Ifang as described, you move a short distance in unmarked terrain.Tips and suggestions
Of course, boat tours are also offered on Lake Attersee.Roadbook
Immediately after the bridge over the West Motorway, turn left, cross the Krespelbach and reach the small village of Bachau via a wide meadow path. A short stretch on the asphalt road to the right (SE), then again on a wide meadow path steeper uphill until you meet another road. Again briefly right and then directly up a faintly defined meadow path to the long-visible chapel and the three wooden crosses at Ifang (830 m). The wooden bench there invites you to take a short break.
Then almost level on the alpine road to an alpine hut and slightly downhill to the forest road, where you meet the marking again. Of course, you can save yourself the "detour" via Ifang, but it is very worthwhile!
From here it mostly goes through forest, but partly also with open views to the Hoher Göll or the Watzmann, to another chapel and in the same manner always gently uphill to the summit of Rossmoos (1,015 m, highest point of the municipality of Nussdorf am Attersee). Although there is no summit cross at the highest point, there is a cozy resting bench.
For the descent to Lake Attersee, there are two options. The shorter variant leads a bit east from the summit, then you turn left and reach the village center of Nussdorf am Attersee by a constantly slight descent over wide paths or forest trails, finally along the Nösstalbach.
Public transport
There is a relatively good bus connection from Salzburg main station via Mondsee (change) to Oberwang. Travel time: approx. 1 hour 25 minutes. The return from Nussdorf am Attersee to Salzburg is somewhat more complicated. By regular bus to Vöcklamarkt (or Vöcklabruck) and then by train to Salzburg.Directions
The starting point Oberwang is very easy to reach by own car (own motorway exit). For the return from Nussdorf am Attersee to Oberwang, a taxi or a second vehicle parked there in advance is required. The connecting route via Limberg and Oberaschau is very idyllic in terms of landscape.Parking
Parking options at the motorway bridge are very limited. It can therefore be useful to park the car in the village center of Oberwang.Coordinates
