This very varied hike leads from Gusterath-Tal (Romika) via Neuhof to the slopes above the Riveris Reservoir. First, magnificent panoramic views, then along a dark, shady forest path. From Riveris past Morscheid to the vineyards of Sommerau again great views, then the forest encloses the hiker once more.

The hike partly follows the Romikaweg and the Morscheider Grenzpfad.
Author’s recommendation
Refreshments at Gasthof Reh in Romika or at the winery in Sommerau (Italian restaurant).
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

The hike starts at Gasthof Reh (parking), by following the "Romika-Weg" sign for a few meters. At the wayside cross, turn right uphill to Neuhof, where you turn left. After leaving the forest edge behind, turn right onto a meadow path that you follow to the paved road. There, sharply turn right until the paved road ends, then continue straight until the path ends. At the forest edge, turn left uphill across the meadows until you meet the Morscheider Grenzpfad, which you follow until it turns right: Those who want to walk along the reservoir continue on the Grenzpfad, we turn left and follow the upper ridge path in the shady forest until we reach the Morscheider Grenzpfad parking lot. Continue on the road until the first field path on the left, into which we turn. Continue until the next crossing path, turn right here, then turn left into the (second) path into the forest, past the pond. We meet the Grenzpfad again, which we follow above the Sommerau vineyards (with a great view of Sommerau and its castle). We stay on the wide path (the Grenzpfad branches off as a path to the left for a few meters) and follow it until shortly before the sharp valley incision of the Dellenbach, which we cross keeping right, to then immediately turn right again. Follow the forest path, partly blocked by fallen trees that must be climbed over, back to the starting point.
