Shortly after setting out through the hills near Rebild, you’ll pass the Cimbrer Stone, and a little later—after a possible detour to a lookout point—an old charcoal kiln site. After hiking through Stendalen, you continue along a narrow path between an old sunken road and burial mounds, across Klodholmpladsen and past an old well before reaching a small parking area (Grøndalen) with benches and a barbecue area.Following a good forest road through open countryside, you’ll reach the north side of St. Økssø; follow the lake to the left until you reach the swimming pier. Here, you can turn sharply left and walk under the railroad tracks to the Mosskov Pavilion. The hike continues by following the lake further around from the swimming pier. At the new raised bog project, go through the gate and follow the small path across the bog.In some wet areas, there are boardwalks. After the raised bog, continue along a good forest road (Storedalsvej) between Krogmose and Luskimose and past author Qvistorff’s spruce tree. At the next intersection, turn right up toward Vejviservej. Here you’ll pass Urskoven, which has a campground, and immediately after that, a large campfire site. Shortly after, turn off the forest road into Troldeskoven, where many widely branched beech trees stand on the ridge that you’ll follow. After passing these trees, turn left and walk downhill until you reach Rold Storkro.
The hike continues away from the inn, and for a short stretch you follow the paved Hulvejen. Just before Kovads Bæk, turn right and follow Skovvejen along the stream. Below Skovtårnet, turn left and pass through the gate into the grazed heathland. Follow the trail up through Festpladsen and between the large hills until you reach the summit at Bjælkehytten, Karens Tophus, and the parking lot.
