The themes of geology and botany merge on this worthwhile day hike, as it consists of two parts which can also be hiked separately. The whole route – with both parts – is presented in this tip. The path runs through the idyllic Lampertstal and explains the geological peculiarities of the Kalkeifel. Views and vistas are also along the way, as well as Germany's third largest juniper protection area, where junipers grow on short-maintained calcareous grasslands and, especially in the later part of the hike, about 30 different species of orchids.
You experience Germany's third largest juniper protection area, where junipers grow on short-maintained calcareous grasslands and especially in the later part of the hike about 30 types of orchids grow. This is achieved through so-called contractual nature conservation: grazing by sheep herds, no fertilization of meadows and mowing only from July. From the start to Büschelsberg – Höneberg quarry – Lampertstal – "Bachschwinde" – Alendorf with the Romanesque chapel – Kalvarienberg
