The hike leads through deciduous and coniferous forests as well as across open farmland to the village of Hohenfelden. There, current and historical village life coexist side by side. Old farms and houses testify on site with maximum authenticity to times gone by; outside the village area, this is complemented by the building group of the open-air museum on Eichenberg, where over 30 historical buildings can be visited.
We start opposite the parking lot on a field path towards Kranichfeld. After about 500 m, at a fork, we take the left path (again »Kranichfeld«), which gently descends. We ignore the junction of a forest road on the left, gain a little height, and then (!) turn left onto a forest road (unmarked) that leads down into a hollow. We reach the lower forest edge, see the village of Hohenfelden half-right in front of us, and reach it via a field path. On the paved road at the edge of the village, we keep right and at the next intersection turn left. In front of the church, we also go left and pass directly by the Old Parsonage, which is part of the museum. After a right curve, we reach the district road and continue the hike straight ahead on a field path. After 200 m, we choose a driving lane to the right that runs along a tree hedge to the east, and turn left at the small road. Sabine Gilcher, Jahrgang 1962, wuchs im bayerischen Alpenvorland auf, mit einem Hochmoor direkt vor der Haustür, den Osterseen gleich um die Ecke und den Bergen immer in Sichtweite.
