The route to the historic wall and the natural monument Solfelsen is characterized by a varied course. While the first half mostly runs through the forest, the second part is marked by wonderful views over open meadows and fields. On the horizon dominate the Alpine chain, before it the High Rhine, Jura and the Swiss Plateau. As rest stops, the Fliegerklause in Rüttehof, the Dekalogplatz or the snack place at the Solfelsen invite you to pause.

We leave the Solfelsen hiking car park, 800m, on the small asphalt road heading south and immediately turn right at the Solfelsenweg. We pass the Kreiselbach clearing, 754m, as well as the road and then follow the blue lozenge into the forest. Here the hunting trail takes us on, traversing the entire mountainside as a narrow forest path. After a while we come across the remains of the old wall, where a small information board explains its history. The route then leads us to the Klingenfelsen. Here and at several other spots enchanting views of the High Rhine and the South Black Forest mountains in the surroundings open up. Continue following the marking towards Rüttehof and about 200m before the signpost Rüttehof we turn right at the first house onto a gravel path that takes us over a small hillock to the gliding airfield. At the Fliegerklause we can refill our energy and watch the activity at the airfield. After a left turn we reach the road, follow it to the right and pass a wayside cross. At the first houses of Hütten we immediately turn right into Klingenweg, at the end turn left and then immediately right again and leave the settlement at the Hütten signpost on a wooded hill. Subsequently, the signage becomes a little sparse. First, however, the yellow lozenge sends us to the Großer Stein signpost, 891m, at a water tank. Now half-left and after passing a forest area to the power line. Immediately after passing underneath it we turn left onto a gravel road (if you reach the launch site of the paragliders you are already too far), at the end turn left again at a hedge and a few meters further right. The next section takes us to the intersection Bergalingen Einschlag, 845m. Once again we turn right, then twice left, then there is another opportunity for a rest on a hillock at the Dekalogplatz. The next intermediate destination is the distinctive transmission tower that we reach on the access road from Jungholz. A few minutes later we turn right at the Jungholz signpost, 780m, and follow the white-blue lozenge on a yellow background to the Solfelsen, 775m. Tables and benches here also invite you to take a long break, and the panorama is also worth seeing. Particularly impressive are of course the numerous granite rocks, of which the Solfelsen is the mightiest. They are all the result of the so-called Wollsack weathering, a typical weathering form of granite that is widespread in the Black Forest. Prominent siblings of the Solfelsen include, for example, the Siebenfelsen near Yach or the Günterfelsen near the Danube spring. With so much scenic enjoyment, it is hard to leave this beautiful place, but it is only a stone's throw to the parking lot. We reach it by following the Hochrhein ridge trail to the Above the Spatzenhof signpost, and from here with a few final changes of direction following the yellow lozenge to the starting point.
