Reedsee - an idyllic mountain lake in the middle of an ancient mountain forest
The hike to the Reedsee is certainly strenuous but definitely worth all the effort. An idyllically located mountain lake in the middle of an ancient mountain forest. If you're lucky, the surrounding peaks are reflected in the water. Attention: bring provisions and water. There is no hut at the lake.
You start at the "Grünen Baum" in Kötschachtal in Bad Gastein. Plenty of parking spaces are available. At the beginning, you go leisurely through the car-free valley along the stream on a forest road. After half an hour you go right over the stream. From here it goes quite steeply about 2 hours to Reedsee. Once arrived at the top you will be rewarded for the effort. The Reedsee lies very idyllically, surrounded by mountain peaks that are reflected in the lake. There is no hut on the mountain, but a picnic by the lake is an unforgettable nature experience. Take your time and enjoy the peace by the lake. The return is via the same path. Almost at the end of the hike there is also a nice possibility to rest and eat.
