The loop described below through the western part of the Rax plateau is one of the most popular activities in the area of the limestone block. It takes a good six hours, passing inviting shelters where you can not only refresh yourself but also stay overnight, allowing you to split the tour over two days. You will see far into the distance, enjoy magnificent panoramas, and gain insights into fascinatingly diverse karst landscapes. There are no difficulties, but endurance and good weather with sufficient visibility are prerequisites!
From Preiner Gscheid on the red marked road no. 801A and 829, shortcutting the natural road ascending in switchbacks, northwards along a forest clearing into the Siebenbrunnenkessel and there to the crossroad on the Siebenbrunnenwiese, 1340 m. From there, keep right in the forest, up and down to the Waxriegelhaus, 1361 m, located on an open meadow shoulder. Beyond, take the red marked footpath briefly downwards to the east to a junction. Turn left onto the yellow marked Göbl-Kühn-Steig, along the forest slopes towards the north, level and ascending, later partly over rock steps uphill and through larch-pine forest up to the tree line. Starting at the steep hollow of the Langermanngrabens, traverse long across the larch and grass slopes to the right (northeast) to a rock shoulder, 1665 m, with magnificent views of the Preinerwand. Continue almost level northeast through larch forest, finally shortly downwards to the Neue Seehütte situated in a hollow below the Seesattel, 1643 m. 50 m
