We begin our small hike at the parking lots at Raunheimer Waldsee. After a few steps on the paved Aschaffenburger Straße towards the entrance to the Waldsee, we keep right to a forest path branching off at a right angle, from which we turn right again after about 300 meters onto the next forest path. This leads us in a straight line over the broad Stockstraße (gravel forest path) to the wildlife enclosure of Raunheim. After passing the wild boar enclosure to our right, we keep right on a soft forest path, follow the gate, and turn onto the next left forest path. We follow this straight ahead, cross the birch clearing and arrive at the Raunheim sports facilities, which we see on the right. Shortly after, we reach Haßlocher Straße (closed to motor vehicles), follow it to the right. At the forest edge, we keep left passing the Anne Frank School. We cross the school's parking lot and continue along the path between the school and the sports halls, cross the small bridge over the Lache ditch and reach the Regional Park path, which we follow left. After a few meters, we reach a nice playground dominated by a huge dragon as a play structure.
From here, we continue on the left-diverting Regional Park path, which runs parallel to the "Lache" (remnants of an old Main arm) along the newly developed residential area on the right. At a path intersection (under a high-voltage line) we go right up to shortly before a former railway guard hut. Here, stairs lead down to Schnelser Weg (street). To the left we go under the railway line, and after reaching normal street level again, we go left between gardens to the next side road, which leads us right along a newly planted avenue with columnar poplars to a path marker. At the red sandstone marker left of the avenue, we continue to the "Eichenrondell", a rest area with benches and a large river stone found during dredging in the Main. After a short rest, we continue to an asphalt path at the Rüsselsheim city boundary. We follow the path to the right up to the former B43. There, we turn left on the foot and bicycle path to the traffic light intersection with Bonner Straße, which we cross. Immediately afterwards, we cross B43 at the traffic light and walk between the sewage plant (right) and the Diakonie (left) through the "Hornbeam Tunnel" under hornbeams shaped as a tunnel. After that, we go under the B43 bypass and reach the Main riverbank. Here we keep right, either via the avenue path or more pleasantly (and farther from the busy B43) directly along the path at the Main riverbank.
The path takes us through open terrain along the Main to the rest area "Flörsheimer Fahr" with a beautiful view over the Main to Flörsheim shore and the St. Gallus Church. It continues to the former Raunheim Main lock, which now serves as a marina. Past this, our path runs immediately along the retaining wall of the Raunheim bypass. The wall offers a roughly 400 m long surface for graffiti artists whose works make the path here a pleasant experience. Now the bike and footpath continues along the Main riverbank to a viewing platform directly on the Main riverbank. On the right, there is an underpass to Raunheim old town with the local history museum and the baroque "Church on the Main", both located right behind the underpass. However, we stay still on the Main riverbank path to the next underpass, which leads us into the eastern Raunheim commercial area. The Frankfurter Straße, which we now come through, is lined with huge halls of the logistics sector. We reach the main road leading into Raunheim and turn right into it. After a curve, we see on the opposite side a parking lot for the Netto market. Here we leave the road and go under the railway line through an underpass for cyclists and pedestrians. This leads directly into the newly developed commercial area "Airport Garden". We generally keep straight ahead here, passing the chimney of the former leather factory. (A small walk through the newly developed district is worthwhile to admire the multicolored flower beds especially in flowering season). Straight ahead we reach a small birch path, which leads us past a firefighting pond (on our left) back to the forest. We reach the road, walk on it to the right - sign "Pinta Beach" - to a roundabout, there keep left and soon arrive back at the starting point.
