In Wolfach, located at the confluence of Wolfach and Kinzig rivers, the memory of 900 years of town history and the rich rafting tradition is still alive. The Lower Gate is the entrance to the magnificent old town with castle, town hall, and many other sights. The route climbs variedly over forest and meadows to the highest point, Mooswaldkopf. Out of great love for the Black Forest, in 1904 the Karlsruhe artist Prof. Engelhorn built a 15-meter-high lookout tower with a shelter at 900 meters elevation. The descent is leisurely, past charming Black Forest farms to Schiltach. Here you can enjoy the peace and charm of the picture-book town. A walk through the old town is like a dreamy journey into the past. Artistically renovated half-timbered houses and a town hall from the 16th century surround the marketplace.
