You begin your hike at the Tourist Information at the train station in Burg. You walk towards Bahnhofstraße and pass under the railway line heading out of town towards Niegripper Chaussee. Shortly before the Elbe-Havel Canal (near Burger Knäcke Werke), turn left into the agricultural area - Lüdersdorf, this path will lead you continuously along the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Double Chamber Lock Hohenwarthe.
The lock complex forms the eastern end of the Mittelland Canal stretch Sülfeld-Hohenwarthe. The ships are lowered about 18.5 m down into the lower Elbe-Havel Canal. In addition to the lock chambers, three staggered basins arranged one above the other have been designed. These basins allow a water saving of about 60% of the water required for locking.
After visiting the Double Chamber Lock, you walk into the forest area "Zuwachs Külzauer Forst." From here you reach Quickberg (68 m above sea level) directly to the Quickborn Spring, which is located in the middle of pine forests and surrounded by deciduous woodland. Here you have the opportunity to take a break at a small quiet resting place and enjoy nature as well as the tranquility. Afterwards, you head energetically through the forest towards Laternenberg and back to Burg.
