Punta Falconera

This long hike takes us steeply up from the Catalan coastal town of Roses into the hilly hinterland, where numerous vineyards grow among Mediterranean shrub vegetation. The otherwise sparse vegetation here shines in spring in the colorful hues of many magnificent flowers, creating a wonderful contrast with the turquoise blue sea and the light gray rocks of the coast. Above the coast, we enjoy views over the Costa Brava and, on clear days, even up to the snow-covered Pyrenees mountains. The earthen paths and trails later lead us down to the sea and to the first of the many charming coves we will pass on our way back. Throughout, we walk along the steep and rocky coast until we meet another of the dream bays. A particularly impressive view of the sea is offered at the southernmost point of the hike (and simultaneously the southernmost point of the Cap de Creus peninsula on which we are located), Punta Falconera. Finally, we continue walking along the rocky coast until, after about seven
