START: free public parking (at least in December) at the gates of the center of Premantura, opposite the public garden. Eager to discover the village center, we walk along the main street (without sidewalk) towards the Church of Saint Lawrence (Crkva sv. Lovro) and its bell tower, the only attractions in the historic center. We continue alone in a post-apocalyptic scenario: deserted streets, star-marked buildings and villas silently watching us as we pass towards the entrance of the Kamenjak nature park. Remnants of the frantic and forgetful summer tourism. Better for us: Nature does not take holidays. We pass through the entrance of Donji Kamenjak: raised barriers, a sign reading "Significant Landscape" and another reading "Be careful - hunting season". Fortunately, from here on we encountered only "Significant Landscape" and not a single hunter.
TYPE OF PATH: the first and last meters, traveled in the center of Premantura and nearby, are on asphalt road without sidewalk. For the rest of the route, you will place your feet on the rocks of the peninsula's coast, on dirt trails and gravel mule tracks. In case of rain, the latter could become muddy. We note poor signage and, especially near Punta Franina and Cape Promontore, a large number of trails that seem to start only to disappear right behind the first curve. For safety, we recommend following our track and always paying attention to where you place your feet: some sections on the way back (west side) are more challenging.
WATER POINTS: many, too many... but all salty water. Mandatory to bring a water bottle even in winter for dogs and bipeds. In summer, some kiosks along the coast are probably open, but we do not recommend this route in summer: only a few sections are in the shade.
POINTS OF INTEREST: practically every second spent along the coasts of the peninsula offers a panoramic view of the sea and the surrounding islets. Particular mention for the beaches Mali Portić and Škara in the east part. The west coast remains higher than sea level and allows admiring the Porer Lighthouse as well. In this part of the peninsula, we recommend Velika Kolumbarica bay for excellent photographic opportunities, the Kamenjak Bunker for geographic information on the 360-degree panorama, the beaches Njive, Plovanije and Pinižule.
CLIMATE: if you are accompanied by a doggo, we strongly advise against walking this route during summer months as it is fully exposed to the sun. We walked it at the end of December and the climate seemed ideal to us.
