PR3.1 PMS - Priest's Path Variant (descent)
Approximately halfway along the PR3 PMS route, in São Bento, it is possible to take the PR3.1 variant which allows the user to choose to reduce the length of the walk.
This variant uses an ancient path that was once used by priests and the local population to connect Alvados to São Bento. It starts in front of the Church of São Bento, proceeding along the street to the right of it and then turning right again onto a rural path, crossing and ascending the gentle slope. The landscape, divided by stone walls, shows a strong presence of traditional olive groves. At the end of the plateau, the path begins its descent to the Alvados valley. On the right side stretches the Canada Valley. The route descends along a sparsely wooded slope. At the bottom of the valley, it crosses an oak forest area before entering the southern part of Alvados, ending shortly after by its chapel.
