The Roman Route (bypass) starts in the Nabão green park in Ansião, 500 meters from the source of the river and at the place that once marked the junction of the IC8 to Constantina.
It then heads north, passing the Ansião-Erbach Friendship House and the Municipal Stadium. This section coincides with the Portuguese Way to Santiago de Compostela, which you leave to go down to Sarzedela, where you can visit the chapel of St. John. The route then follows a forest path that leads to the alminhas of Lousal. Crossing the main road to Santiago da Guarda, the route passes through the village of Pinheiro. Here the bypass turns left and heads towards Lousal, returning to Ansião.
