When the trade wind clouds build up inland and rainy weather prevails, it can be dry by the sea. In this case, this short hike over a lava flow from 1986 is ideal for taking a break during a round trip in the southern part of Reunion.

Safety information
Beware of the cliffs - danger of falling! There are many signs indicating that sharks are frequently sighted. The cliffs and strong surf are not suitable for swimming anyway.
Roadbook
From the parking area we follow a wide path northwards (to the left). On the left side of the path there are wooden signs - PR 13 La Pointe de la Table 1h 30 (the time indicated is much too long). Soon the path narrows and is barely visible. You now orient yourself always walking close to the shore by the yellow-blue markings and ceramic plates embedded in the lava rock with a red flowing "i". After 600m at a sign "Retour Parking" you must turn left onto a lava flow (caution: no signpost!). We now follow this ribbed lava path upwards, paying attention to the ceramic plates spaced further apart (the yellow-blue markings lead along the coast). We repeatedly pass information boards (unfortunately only in French). In a large arc our route leads downhill again until the coastal path is reached again. We now follow it to the right (south) and can orient ourselves again by the yellow-blue markings. Always straight ahead, it goes back close to the cliffs to the starting point.
