This varied hike on forest paths and meadow trails not only offers wonderful distant views but also several historic sites: from the over 1000-year-old Zentgericht in Geisa to the former US base Point Alpha and the "House on the Border," which excitingly present the history of the inner-German border for both young and old.
We start in front of the town hall in Geisa and walk past the building on the right towards the city museum. In front of the city museum, we turn right onto the castle square. We take the passage to the right past the castle, which leads us to Gangolfiberg (marking: green drop on white background). We cross Gangolfiberg straight ahead, past the Zentgericht, and see the cemetery on the left side. A detour to the cemetery chapel is worthwhile because of the gravestones from the 16th century embedded in the wall. We walk past the cemetery straight down to the street and then turn left. At the end of the street, the signposting "Extratour Point-Alpha-Weg" leads us down to the left. After about 200 m, we turn right onto a gravel path that leads us to the Jewish cemetery. We continue to follow the "Extratour" marking (red "P" on white background) until the gravel path reaches the forest by a covered picnic bench.
