Many paths lead to Plešivec – the route suggested here follows small idyllic paths, past meadows and through cool forest. First, we are accompanied by the Merklín Mountain Educational Trail over four stations towards the summit, further up it is replaced by the Abertamy Mountain Educational Trail. There used to be the hamlet Oberes Kaff here, whose meadows – the Kaffer meadows – are famous for protected and healing plants. On top of Plešivec there is a beautiful view. After a section of wooded descent, first on a "mythical educational trail", the route goes over rocks to the second highlight of this tour, the Vlčí hřbet, 902 m. The last part again runs through forest, then through the hamlet Oldřiš located in a charming plain back to Merklín.
At the train station in Merklín (Ger. Merkelsgrün) we head towards the playground and the information boards. We follow the "Merkliner Ring/Merklín Mountain Educational Trail" for a while, always paying attention to the yellow bar. The road bends to the left, going straight past the inn. After the area with the climbing wall, we turn right, walk straight past the kindergarten and at the sports field keep right at the intersection. We take the path straight ahead, walk up the road to the left, immediately right again and then at the T-junction right again to sign No. 1 of the educational trail. We continue and turn left before house No. 161, then walk straight up. Further up the path splits, we keep left and soon go under the lift. Mountain meadows and forest alternate now. In the forest at a fork we go right (yellow bar), soon the green bar joins from the left. Soon we pass ruins of the village Unteres Kaff (sign 4), then follow the hiking signs.
