The trails in the national park on the Swiss side of the Ofen Pass are overcrowded during the high season. The Piz Turettas in Val Müstair offers a contrasting program for mountain hikers looking for a solitary summit. However, solitude also has its reasons: the path to Piz Turettas is long and demanding!
From Fuldera on the gravel road to Fuldera-Daint. Shortly after the bridge turn left and make a wide arc back to the stream gorge (Val Ruina). In another arc to the large Alp Sadra. Now turn left (sparse markings) and ascend over the wide flank ("Las Jondas"; small hut remains on the right). Continue to a ridge ("Muntet") and over it with some ups and downs to the picturesque Lai da Chazfora. From the lake on trail traces over a ridge and through depressions (small "Lacken"). Across the plateau towards the south, then east. Pay close attention to markings! Finally steep to the east summit, 2958 m. Here the markings end. To the slightly higher west summit, 2963 m, of Piz Turettas it goes over the ridge (bypass rock towers), then up to the cairn. The descent follows the ascent path back to Alp Sadra. Here hold left for a change and on a gravel road, then turn right again back to the ascent path, which you now follow to Fuldera.
