Piz Chastè is a magnificent lookout mountain due to its prominent location: very close to Piz Linard, the highest peak of the Silvretta, as well as peaks of the "Engadine Dolomites" like Piz Nuna and Piz Plavna Dadaint and the national park (e.g. the impressive Piz Quattervals, the only summit allowed for climbing in the protected area). The views down to Susch and the Inn Valley are also spectacular. The hike leads over south-facing slopes, so on sunny days it is advisable to start early.
From Röven we ascend through the forest to a forest road. Shortly on the wide forest road, but before the Alp Fless Dadoura, turn right. Across the alpine meadows we reach – already above the tree line – in a long traverse over Murtera an alpine road. On it, we hike without difficulty over Ils Fops to Suot Chastè, a beautiful viewpoint. Here begins the southeast ridge that leads to our summit. Over this ridge, partly very steep, finally through rocky terrain, to the highest point of Piz Chastè.The descent initially follows the ascent path to the junction, then (signpost "Susch") leads on a comfortable path, from 1800 m on a forest road with many switchbacks, finally on an asphalted forest road through the sparse woodland to Susch and to the Susch station.
