Pilgrimage and hiking – that is the motto of the hike around Siegsdorf. Since 1951, the traditional costume pilgrimage annually mobilizes about 2,500 folk costume wearers from the whole Chiemgau to walk from Siegsdorf to Maria Eck. But even without the other 2,499 pilgrims, you can walk year-round on a meditative path to the monastery church, passing idyllic farms and wayside shrines. The monastery complex, pilgrimage church, and monastery inn invite you to rest. Walking once around the church is worthwhile because of the view of Lake Chiemsee and the pilgrimage crosses. Shady through the forest, you then reach Eisenärzt. As the name suggests, iron ore was mined here. The path beautifully and idyllically follows the white Traun back to Siegsdorf. There is no black Traun in the Catholic Chiemgau – but the red Traun exists.
