Scenic hike for experienced hikers with a beautiful trail and a hut with overnight accommodation at the foot of the Persailhorn.
The hike to the Peter-Wiechenthaler Hut is equally popular with guests and locals. The hut, which towers high above Saalfelden at the foot of the Persailhorn, offers not only a variety of combination options with other huts and trails depending on the desired difficulty level but also welcomes hikers with a magnificent panorama and hearty dishes. Overnight stays are also possible.

Since a large part of the ascent and descent to the Peter-Wiechenthaler Hut is in exposed, rocky terrain, hikers should start early to avoid the midday heat. Be sure to carry enough water for all hikers. Use sun protection and head covering.

This more challenging hike to the Peter-Wiechentaler Hut (1752 m) starts at the Bachwinkl parking lot in Saalfelden. Follow the signs initially through shady forest, then through rocky terrain up to the hut. The return to the valley is on the same path.

Directions
BY CAR
Drive on the Pinzgauer federal road B311 from Saalfelden towards Lofer. After the Forstinger company (on the left), turn right into "Pabing" street. Follow the road for about 1.5 km until you reach the Bachwinkl parking lot. Here begins the ascent to the Peter Wiechenthaler Hut.
