Along the RA 4 cycle path about 1 km to the Taubenkogelweg junction. At the end of the path, a wooden bridge leads over the swamp area. The moor rest area invites you to linger and rest. Information boards provide details about the natural features of the area. The Rakouza Moor in the Four Lakes Valley has received the Ramsar designation and was thereby recognized as a "wetland of international importance." The structure of the wetland areas provides a rarely found habitat for numerous endangered animal and plant species.
After crossing the swamp area – at the intersection turn left to the next intersection – about 1 km – then right again through an extensive swamp landscape. At the edge of the forest, the path marked with number 28 leads uphill to the idyllic Penkensee. Then continue through the village of Penken – along Pleierweg to the Penkenstraße junction – left – to Gasthof Ferm (place to stop). From Gasthof Ferm to the Kramer Johann junction – the path goes back toward Schiefling over Kuran (through the forest) – number 37 to the sports center – from there back to the municipal parking lot.
