On this tour, it is not the rugged rocky peaks but the small features that fascinate us, even in the foothills. Geologists are delighted by the unusual rock formations, botanists by the first harbingers of spring - the route can often be completed early in the year.
Behind the Gasthof Pletzachalm, a narrow but well-marked path leads north across the meadows into the forest. We quickly gain height on a steep incline, crossing under a material ropeway several times; after a clearing, we reach the Pasill saddle . This is where the pathfinder game begins: first we head west without a path to the insignificant elevation of the Juchtenkopf , then briefly towards the striking southern ridge of the Hohe Gans and turn left over mats and through a gully down to the Überschüssalm . Heading southwest, we soon reach the Schleimssattel, where the little adventure ends and we hike down a steep cart path into the Gerntal and further out of the valley to the Gasthof Pletzachalm.
