The panoramic round trip leads us from Steingaden to the Lechstausee reservoir. Once we have left Steingaden and passed the Storchenmoosweiher, a gigantic Alpine panorama opens up to us, which will accompany us back to the starting point.

The panoramic round trip near Steingaden combines varied paths with impressive views of the Alps and the surrounding pre-Alpine landscape. The starting point is the Tourist Information, from where the route initially leads through the town and then out into the open terrain.

After the Storchenmoosweiher, a wide view of the Alpine chain opens up, accompanying the hike over long stretches. The route continues towards Lechsee, where an optional detour along the lake is possible and a refreshing break can be enjoyed during warm weather.

The return path runs through the idyllic brook valley of Urspring and over scenic uplands back to Steingaden. Beautiful panoramic spots invite you to linger again and again, making the tour a thoroughly varied hike with experiences of nature and wide vistas.

    Safety information

Only partially accessible in snow (wonderful winter hiking trail from Urspring over the Egg to Steingaden).

Consideration for Nature and Land Use
Many hiking trails in Pfaffenwinkel run over agricultural and forestry-used roads. These are also used by vehicles and machines. Please be considerate, make room, and observe work on-site. Stay on the marked paths, close pasture gates after passing through, and respect animals and sensitive habitats.

    Forestry Work and Trail Closures
Forestry work regularly takes place in our forests. Please strictly observe posted closures and barriers. These serve your safety – there is acute danger to life from falling trees or machinery during logging work.

    Natural Trails and Current Conditions
Many trails are natural and may contain roots, stones, or steeper sections. After heavy rain or storms, paths can be damaged or temporarily impassable (e.g., due to fallen trees). Plan your tour accordingly, wear suitable footwear, and inform yourself about the weather and current conditions. Hiking is at your own risk.

    Roadbook

We start the tour in Steingaden at the hiking information board in front of the Tourist Information and walk along Krankenhausstraße towards the northwest. At the crossroads, we take the right path and reach the Storchenmoosweiher pond. We pass the lake on the northeastern shore and hike to a inconspicuous wayside cross situated at a magnificent viewpoint. The wide view of the Alps will accompany us all the way to the Lechstausee reservoir. Here you can extend your hike and explore the Lechsee circular trail (6.5 km). The cool water promises a wonderful refreshment on warm days. Afterwards, we head towards Urspring. We walk through the village, an idyllic brook valley, and take the road eastwards. On this path, we once again come to a fantastic viewpoint on the Egg before returning to Steingaden.
