The start is located at the Loisach bridge in Schlehdorf-Unterau. After the bridge, go left and immediately right again on a paved field path past green meadows. Then turn right and after a short stretch turn left again to Eichsee with a lawn (swimming opportunity). For the return journey, go back onto the path and turn right in a bow around the lake to the Triftkanal. Here turn left following the small canal towards Großweil. Then turn left towards Schlehdorf. Shortly afterward, turn right on a stony field path towards the Loisach. The path merges into the field path accompanying the Loisach. Here turn left and return to Unterau. The meadow bird breeding area through which the hiking trail leads belongs to the Loisach-Kochelsee moor. More than 200 bird species come as guest and breeding birds to this protected area. To protect ground-nesting bird species, it is forbidden from March 20 to July 15 to leave the marked paths. (Leash obligation for dogs)

Meadow bird breeding area Loisach-Kochelsee moors

The moor landscape between Loisach and Kochelsee was formed during the last glacial period over 15,000 years ago. These areas have been farmed for more than 1,000 years. Flower-rich meadow meadows developed in the area of the low moor. At the same time, the extensive wetlands are a habitat for a variety of plant and animal species that are endangered. More than 200 bird species come as guest and breeding birds to these moor areas. The Loisach-Kochelsee moors are part of the European NATURA 2000 biotope network.

From March 20 to July 15, that is during the arrival of the birds and the raising of the young birds, it is prohibited by ordinance of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district office to:

let dogs run free
leave the marked paths
ride horses
play ball or engage in sports
camp or lodge
light fires

Coming from Großweil, turn left immediately after the end of the village towards Unterau. From Kochel a. See in Schlehdorf at the inn Fischerwirt turn right into Unterauer Straße - follow this to the village center of Unterau.
