Die Wanderung beginnt am Wanderstartplatz Hauserbauer und führt durch einen Fichtenwald bis zur Steiner Hochalm (bewirtschaftet). Einige Feuchtgebiete und Niedermoore prägen den weiteren Weg bis zum Kleineren Paarsee. Der Aufstieg wird mit einem wunderschönen Panorama belohnt - das Hochkönigmassiv im Norden, das Gasteinertal im Süden und natürlich der Blick auf den Großen Paarsee.
