Author’s recommendation
The oxbow path is also a popular running route and is signposted as such.
The north side of the oxbow path is also excellent for strollers as well as for toddlers with balance bikes or children's bikes. The south side is only partly suitable for strollers and not suitable at all for children's bikes.
With a stroller or children's bike, it is best to turn back upon reaching the Danube or return to the starting point along the Danube bike path to the right. However, expect many cyclists here.
On the south side of the oxbow path, cycling and riding horses are generally prohibited.

Roadbook
From the starting point at the rowing clubhouse, we walk over the oxbow bridge towards the Danube power plant. Immediately after the bridge (there are some parking spaces on the right here as well), turn left down into the riparian forest onto the path that follows the north bank of the oxbow. We follow this about 3.5 km westwards. Then it turns north and we stand on the right bank of the Danube. In front of us is the reservoir and to the right the Wallsee power plant. To the right of the power plant, we see Wallsee Castle. We walk about 200 m to the left along the Danube dam (Danube bike path). Then turn left again into the riparian forest. We come to a footbridge and cross the Erla. After 500 m, another footbridge crosses the Aubach. Soon we are back on the bank of the oxbow; we are now on the Austrian Way of St. James, which runs from Wallsee to Strengberg. Passing the houses of Gauning, the route continues quite varied and shady until we reach open meadows and the Wallsee recreation center. The starting point is soon reached.
