Over the Hinanger Waterfall to Malerwinkel

You start in the district of Hofen, following the signs to Sonthofer Hof. Shortly after you reach the first forest section, a small path branches off to the right, running along the edge of the forest towards the south. You leave the district of Beilenberg to the right and continue along the field path towards the south to the Leybachtobel. Once there, you go over the Reinersberg (with a magnificent view over Altstätten into the Illertal) to the district of Hochweiler. There you take the small road downhill to Hinang. Shortly after Hochweiler, you will discover the newly erected memorial "Queen of Love" at the roadside. Further downhill, there is the option to make a detour to the impressive Hinanger Waterfall. In Hinang, the beautiful St. Martin Chapel is absolutely worth seeing. Looking at the rather simple-looking chapel from the outside, you will be more than surprised by the baroque interior with a fascinating coffered ceiling made of Swiss stone pine.

After the brief quiet retreat, you head west following the sign "Malerwinkel", which you reach shortly after the village. The view at Malerwinkel into the Allgäu Alps is "like painted". The circular tour then leads back through the castle forest with a very beautiful, old tree population to the climate spa Altstätten, the district of Sonthofen. In the town, you follow the sign "outdoor swimming pool". This is located at the eastern exit of the town and has meanwhile been converted into a leisure facility. Free swimming in a solar-heated water basin included! This is a good place to stay a while longer before returning to the starting point of our hike in about 30 minutes via the Weingartenhöhe and Beilenberg on a high plateau with a panoramic view.
