Our circular hike takes us from Tegna over the Colma and through chestnut forests and small Ticino villages.
We start the tour in the tranquil town of Tegna, which is typical of Ticino with its historic stone houses and narrow streets. Tegna is nestled on the edge of the Terre di Pedemonte, very close to Lake Maggiore - the lake is a popular excursion destination and characterizes the mild climate of the region. Our hike begins with a long, steady climb towards the Colma summit. The path winds its way through chestnut and deciduous forests, with clearings repeatedly opening up views of the valleys between Locarno and Maggia. We reach the highest point of the route on the Colma. Here we enjoy sweeping views, which on clear days even extend as far as the mountains around Lake Maggiore. The descent then begins, leading us downhill along narrow mountain paths. Only towards the end of our hike do we reach the small church Oratorio Sant'Anna, which is somewhat hidden at the edge of the forest and offers a nice resting place with its peaceful atmosphere.
