Three-thousand-year-old burial mounds from the Bronze Age lie on the heath at the edge of a floodplain. At some point, time seems to have stood still here – all the more so since the only modern "achievement" of the landscape, the straightening of the stream, has been undone.
From the hiking parking lot in Goirle, we go left and behind the idyllic farmhouse we turn right with red markings (sign "Ooijevaarsnest") onto a hiking path along the Leij floodplain. After a right turn, we go left past a small pond and then continue in the original direction, still with red markings. At the next opportunity, leaving the red, we let ourselves be led left over a boardwalk through the Leij floodplain.On the other side, the path swings right. We pass a forest pond and now follow yellow to a wide crossing forest path, right here (yellow) and again at the end (yellow). At the forest edge, then left again along the edge of the Leij floodplain. Looking over it, we see the heath we will cross later.At a fork near some houses, we keep right. We cross the floodplain again, turn left on the other side and go through a gate. Where the heath borders directly on the sandy path, we have to be careful.
