Schmirn Valley and Valser Valley are separated by a ridge that rises gradually over Ottenspitze and Gammerspitze up to the Hohe Warte (also called Hogar). Up to the Gammerspitze, we find marked routes, making it a nice, relatively little-known touring destination for the average hiker. Insightful perspectives into the two valleys along with their mountain surroundings should be incentive enough. The core of the tour is, of course, the ridge route, which lasts at least an hour and a half.
Diagonal opposite the monument "Madonna zur Hohen Warte" we take the forest road and at the signpost behind the first hairpin turn continue right (No. 67 towards Lorenzalm and Ottenspitze). You stay on the forest road for a while before a path branches off to the left uphill through the forest. When crossing a road, continue half-left. We pass forest pastures and come to a slope hollow (somewhat less well-trodden) and from there heading left to Lorenzalm, 2020 m, on a terrain bench. No. 67 leads diagonally right through alpine rose slopes further to the tiny Ottenspitz hut, already just below the namesake summit. Anyone who wants to reach this easily must leave the following small hollow with No. 66 to the right and later climb up from behind. A clever and time-saving way is from the ridge height over the short, craggy east ridge (some exposed steps in grade I) to the cross on Ottenspitze, 2179 m, which appears in some maps also as Ultenspitze. After this optional detour, proceed

Mark Zahel
