Orsoy and the Lower Rhine

From the church square we walk over Fährstraße and Friedrichplatz to the Rheintor, which we reach via stairs and can already see from the starting point. We turn left and walk downstream parallel to the Rhine. To the Gemeinschaft Grundschule Orsoy, we go down the steps. Over the old fortification as a hiking trail, flanked by trees, we walk westwards directly towards the Hotel Orsoyer Hof. After another 100 meters, we keep right and walk over a built wooden boardwalk with a view of pasture areas, always turning left in a circle back to the hiking trail. At the cemetery, we reach the Westwall, over which we walk to the Kuhteich.

From Kuhteich, we walk southeast over laid walking paths parallel to the Southwall and pass an information stand of NABU on the topic of orchard meadows before reaching the cemetery at Bendstege. Anyone who wishes can make a detour to the nearby Powder Tower (Milling Tower, approx. 50 meters).

Now, we go past the cemetery in a southwesterly direction over the Benstege into the fields. We walk a stretch parallel to the railway line past the settlement Orsoyerberg. About 300 meters after the railway crossing we keep left and wander over the cattle footbridge in a large left curve back toward Orsoy. After 1300 meters we turn left (a wad starts at the crossroads) over an unpaved path through the fields and reach Binsheimer Straße. Here left, after about 80 meters we reach a horse paddock on Hornweg. We cross the country road to the right and walk gently uphill into the allotment garden settlement. This narrow path leads us back to the Rhine dike and over it to the Rheintor.

 The stairs down to Friedrichplatz and after about 100 meters right into Sankt-Nikolaus-Straße. Past Chateau Orsoy we circle the Protestant church counterclockwise and reach our starting point.
