From Otterfing S-Bahn station we head south toward the railway overpass. From here there is a wonderful view of the Bavarian pre-Alps from Wendelstein to Brauneck. Then we take the field path east of the railway line to the Holzhamer bridge, cross over it and continue across open meadows to Holzham and on to an intersection. From here follow the signpost "Teufelsgraben, Holzkirchen." We cross the federal road and walk along the western edge on the foot/cycle path past the junction toward Palnkam with a slight descent into the "Devil's Ditch". This is a dry valley where once the meltwaters of the last Isar glacier flowed off. At the point where the path and road begin to rise again, you can see the signpost "Palnkam, Roggersdorf," which we follow. Via a forest path, initially running parallel to the B13 heading northwest, we are soon led through beautiful mixed forest in the "Devil's Ditch." The vehicle noises from the B13 become quieter until only soothing silence remains. At one spot the path runs directly along the northern slope of the ditch. After a clearing with a transformer house, we reach the junction toward Palnkam. There we go uphill to the right out of the ditch onto open meadows where the small village of Palnkam is already visible. We cross the main small road heading north and come to a chapel. Then continue toward Erlach, which already belongs to Dietramszell. Through forest slightly down, then rising again on open meadows and to the right through the village to the road that leads from Otterfing to Dietramszell. Cross it and walk beyond it over open meadows on a field path to Wettlkam. At the maypole turn right and at the first junction left. Along the forest edge to the large Otterfing riding stable. Then back to the starting point.
