On the Three Castles Trail near Klingenmünster
Past a medieval ring wall, the tour leads steeply up to the remains of a castle from the Salian period and takes us on a magnificent high path to the viewing tower on the Treutelskopf with a view over the Trifelser Land. On the way back, it is worth stopping at the excellently preserved Landeck castle with a wide view of the Rhine Valley. In many places, informative display boards provide interesting information about our ancestors.
In the center of Klingenmünster, at the intersection of Weinstraße and Steinstraße, we begin our tour. We walk a few meters northeast along the main street, pass the bus stop and turn left into a narrow alley. Here we reach Schelmengasse, keep left and immediately go right up a footpath to the Nikolaus chapel. We circle a water retention basin on the right and hike up Alte Straße in the new development area. At first, the pink symbol of the Palatinate Almond Trail serves as our orientation. After a few minutes, we reach the vineyards and on our left our intermediate destination, the castle ruins of Landeck. Passing the Nikolaus chapel, probably built around 1190, and the Palatinate clinic on the right, we reach Johannaweg with the Johanna spring. At the second left turn of the hiking trails, we follow the red-white sign of the castle trail towards Martinsturm, which will accompany us most of the time. After a few meters in the forest, it gets quite steep, the small path climbs steeply

Albrecht Ritter
