Between Börger and Spahnharrenstätte, this impressive route leads through an interplay of forest and open land. Past the living church made of willow weaving, you reach the woodland around Klingenberg after crossing the Ohe. Small boulders from the last Ice Age guide you to the legendary Männige Mountains: a barrow field that served as a burial site for over 1300 years. Even today, 61 heath-covered mounds testify to the significance of this enchanting Bronze Age place. Very close by, the ancient Spahner Beech invites you to rest beneath its mighty crown.
Author’s recommendation

The Ohe is to be crossed over large stepping stones. This requires surefootedness and a head for heights. During high water, the stones can be submerged, making crossing impossible.
