"Oberkail-Himmerod loop"

Nature, culture, and a touch of Eifelsteig accompany this hike.

Typical Eifel villages with their own charm and contemporary historical monuments, such as the Beer Mill, which was lovingly restored, are passed. Flat paths through the Eifel forests are interrupted by some climbs – a truly varied hiking pleasure.

A distinctive point on the Eifelsteig and about halfway through the Oberkail-Himmerod loop is Himmerod Abbey. A spiritual place that provides new strength and energy, whether visiting the monastery inn or resting on the venerable abbey grounds.

Along the Salm, the path leads along romantically narrow trails towards Eisenschmitt. After a steep ascent, the reward soon follows – the picturesque Frohnert Chapel, which offers a magnificent panoramic view.
